Girl Scouts @ TECH Day @ Gordon Cooper Technology Center – Seminole Campus

Twenty-eight Girl Scouts attended TECH Day on February 26th at Gordon Cooper Technology Center – Seminole Campus.  Girl Scouts learned about the Automotive Service Technology, Health Careers and Digital Media Production programs that are offered at the Gordon Cooper Technology Center – Seminole Campus.

In the Automotive Service Technology program Girl Scouts could be seen sporting safety glasses while they learned how to check fluids on cars, cruised on creepers and viewed the underside of a car on a lift. Girl Scouts learned that girls can repair cars and work in the automotive industry.

Girl Scouts learned the importance of hand washing in the Health Careers program. Girl Scouts watched as the  proper way to wash their hands was demonstrated and were amazed at the germs they saw on their hands using a black light. Girl Scouts used the food pyramid to identify and plan healthy snacks and meals. Using a school menu the Girl Scouts were charged with planning a healthy meal.

In the Digital Media Production program Girl Scouts watched an Anti-Bully video created by students at Gordon Cooper Technology Center – Seminole Campus. Girl Scouts learned about video production, created word clouds using Wordle and designed frames for their pictures.

Girl Scouts left with lanyards, TECH Day backpacks and patches, pictures, certificates and prizes.
